Is the AltMenus app free to use, or will there be any costs involved?
AltMenus is a free app available for unlimited use on up to 2 devices per Google Sheet. The App does not contain any advertisements and can be used for both personal and commercial purposes without restriction.
Can I add more device licenses to the system?

Can I change the menu layout and button labels in AltMenus?
Yes, AltMenus is highly customizable. You can modify buttons, images and menu design. Additionally, you have control over system behavior, notifications and dialog boxes, ensuring they fit your specific requirements. This level of customization helps create a user experience that aligns with your brand and preferences.
Is AltMenus available only for Android devices?
Yes, right now AltMenus is only available for Android devices.
Does AltMenus utilize a dedicated server for managing and processing data?
No, AltMenus does not use a central server. Instead, it leverages Google Sheets as a server for each user. This setup allows you to retrieve, save, and delete data directly through your own Google Sheets. By using this method, AltMenus simplifies data management and avoids the complexities and costs associated with maintaining a traditional server.
Who is in charge of keeping the Google Sheet safe and ensuring the data stays accurate?
Each user using the Google Sheet needs to keep it safe and secure. This means setting up protections to guard the sheet and making regular backups. Since everyone has access to their own data, they must protect and manage it themselves. It's important to follow good security practices to stop unauthorized access and avoid losing data.
Does AltMenus process data in real-time?
AltMenus processes new or updated information, such as orders, payments, and kitchen completions, every minute. As a result, users might experience a slight delay of up to 60 seconds. This delay helps us manage Google Sheets' usage limits, ensuring our service remains reliable and stable.
Does AltMenus ever go offline for maintenance?
No, AltMenus does not typically experience downtime. It operates 24/7, providing continuous access to its features. Downtime may only occur if there is an outage with Google Sheets or Google App Script, as these are critical components for data management and functionality. However, such outages are infrequent, and as long as these services are running, AltMenus remains fully operational.
Is it recommended to use AltMenus on an AirBnb?
Yes, AltMenus is well-suited for use in an Airbnb setting. It is specifically designed for small businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and temporary accommodations like Airbnb. The system's flexibility and features make it ideal for managing menus, orders, and guest interactions in a vacation rental environment.
Would you recommend using AltMenus in a fast food restaurant?
It depends on how many orders you get. AltMenus might not be ideal for fast food places with lots of orders every minute because it can hit the quotas of Google Sheets quickly. It's meant for small to medium-sized operations, and too much transactions might cause limitation issues. If your fast food place is very busy, you might need a more powerful system to handle everything smoothly.
Does AltMenus work with a device to take card payments?
No, AltMenus does not currently integrate with payment devices for card payments. At this stage, our focus is on ensuring the stability and reliability of the system. Payment integration is planned for future updates to enhance functionality. We will keep users informed about when this feature becomes available and how it will be implemented.
Does AltMenus issue a paper receipt?
AltMenus provides electronic receipts (eReceipts) that are sent via email. This digital method helps reduce paper waste and supports environmental sustainability.
Can I generate a daily reports in AltMenus ?
Yes, you can generate various types of reports in AltMenus, including daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly summaries. These reports are designed to provide insights into your data and order patterns. Additionally, you have the option to have these reports sent directly to your email for easy access and record-keeping.
Can I schedule the menu that shows up in AltMenus ?
Yes, you can schedule when a menu appears in AltMenus by configuring settings in the SETTING sheet. This feature allows you to specify particular times of the day for the menu to be displayed. By adjusting these settings, you can control when the menu becomes visible based on your preferences or operational needs.
Can I add rows or columns in the AltMenus Google Sheet template?
You can only edit the cells marked as editable within the Google Sheet template. Adding new columns is not recommended, as it may disrupt the template's functionality and cause issues with data management. However, you can add rows in the LAYOUT1, LAYOUT2, DASHBOARD and ITEM sheets if needed.
What if I accidentally shared the my QR Code and they spam orders?
If the URL is accidentally shared or stolen and someone uses it to place spam orders, you can create a new deployment URL and archive the old one. Once the old URL is archived, it won't work anymore, and any device using it will be automatically removed. Additionally, you can use the LOCK option in the DEVICE sheet to prevent devices from being registered.
Error: *JsonDecodingException: Unexpected JSON token*
This happens when you type text into a cell that’s meant for numbers. To fix it, change the content of the cell to a number and restart the app to download the changes.
Error: *unable to open the file*
This happens when the deployment URL is no longer active or has been archived. To fix it, redeploy the script to get a new URL.
Error: *SERVER_ERROR_OCCURED* & others
If you see this error, it could be related to your internet connection. To resolve it, check if you're connected to the internet. If you are and the issue persist, it might be a DNS problem— you may need to restart your router or use a different wifi or use mobile data or tethering.
After an update from Google Play Store, the app is stuck at loading.
Restart the app. Sometimes, you might need to close the app and open it again or reinstall the app if to get the latest update to fix the issue.
